I saw a boy upon the shore, of a surf-tormented, white-sand beach.
I saw the sea drip from his arm,
the salty sea beyond his reach.
He stood and gazed with eyes of bronze,
and watched the waves as they did beat.
His aching heart, although it longed,
could not make gain, with leaden feet.
He dreamed of ocean depths, beyond.
His aching limbs, set hard as rock.
His gaze transfixed, upon the sea,
his mind set free, the tide his clock.
